Probation Management System - Adult Probation System
DSSI’s Adult Probation System (APS) is a case management tool designed for probation and parole officers.
With a growing number of offenders being sentenced to supervised community corrections (instead of incarceration), probation officers must adapt their case management techniques. The APS case management tool assists officers in reducing incidents of relapse while encouraging social integration and increasing public safety.
While strategies and practices vary between agencies, traditional case management involves assisting offenders with rehabilitative services. These services include, but are not limited to mental health and substance abuse treatment, parenting classes, medical referrals and treatment, educational and employment services.
The APS system (module?) collects and assembles data, which enables Probation Officers to develop and implement strategies that are both meaningful (impactful?) and information driven.
Features
- Involves pre-trial, post-trial or post-sentencing
- Facilitates interviews and history taking which may include substance abuse evaluation, home visits, and contacts with family members, employees, and other agencies with whom the offender has been involved
- Ability to conduct risk/needs assessment based upon information derived from the offender’s criminal history.
- Enables officer to input information depending on the status and needs of the offender, which can be used to develop recommendations that can include halfway house referrals, substance abuse treatments, employment training and placement assistance.
- Permits the case administrator to easily assign cases to case managers depending on availability of resources.
- Monitors offenders and sanctions imposed for those who fail to comply with service plans.
